PSHE Vision Statement
At Revoe, PSHE education is central to nurturing confident, resilient, and compassionate young people. Guided by the SCARF principles: Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, and Friendship, our vision is to create a learning environment where every child feels secure, valued, and empowered to thrive.

Intent
At Revoe Learning Academy (RLA), our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education aims to develop children into independent, confident, healthy and responsible individuals. Our curriculum focuses on nurturing the whole child – intellectually, morally, socially and spiritually – and is embedded throughout daily school life, not just in timetabled lessons.
We are committed to delivering an inclusive PSHE curriculum that supports the diverse needs of all learners, regardless of background, ability or additional needs. This aligns with our school’s ethos of enabling every child to become the very best version of themselves.
Curriculum Overview
Our PSHE provision follows the SCARF scheme of work (Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, Friendship). SCARF provides a structured, spiral curriculum that builds knowledge, skills and understanding through six revisited core themes each year:

Each half-term, children complete a pre-unit assessment to inform teaching and a post-unit assessment to reflect on progress.
Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)
RSE is a key part of our PSHE curriculum and is primarily delivered through the Growing and Changing unit, while also being woven throughout all topics. It covers lifelong learning about relationships, emotions, body changes, personal care, families, sexuality and health.
We aim to ensure children acquire accurate information, develop essential life skills and build positive attitudes and values. SCARF educators and school nurse visit annually to deliver age-appropriate RSE sessions for Years 5 and 6, with these themes revisited by class teachers in the summer term. Children are encouraged to ask questions throughout the year using our confidential "Ask it Basket."
Why PSHE Matters at RLA
PSHE education is vital for preparing pupils for the complexities of modern life. Through it, children learn to:
Manage personal and social challenges
Understand how to keep their bodies and minds healthy
Prepare for future careers and life choices
Navigate relationships and emotions effectively
Stay safe both online and offline
Uphold British Values: democracy, individual liberty, the rule of law, mutual respect and tolerance
We aim to empower children to make informed decisions, cope with peer pressure, handle change, and seek support when needed.
Our Vision
PSHE at RLA equips pupils with the knowledge and confidence to thrive as individuals, family members, and active citizens. Through SCARF, we develop the characteristics needed to contribute positively to the school and wider community.
We create a safe environment where pupils can explore their beliefs, clarify values, and develop respect and empathy for others. We want all our learners to grow up emotionally aware, socially responsible, and ready for whatever the future holds.

Enrichment Opportunities
Our PSHE curriculum is enhanced through whole-school events and focus weeks, including:
- Anti-Bullying Week
- Children in Need
- Children’s Mental Health Week
- Health and Wellbeing Week (covering water safety, sun safety, dental and personal hygiene)
- Yoga workshops (KS1)
- Health and Wellbeing workshops (KS2)
- SCARF workshops
These events provide pupils with deeper understanding and real-life application of key topics.
In anti-bullying week, we held a poster competition for the children to design a poster about what power for good meant to them. Look at the positivity on these ones!!

As part of World Mental Health day children wore yellow to raise awareness that young people are not alone with their mental health. Right now, the world can be a tough place for children and young people to grow up in – and they're feeling the pressure. The children at Revoe enjoyed being a part of this day!
