History
At Revoe Learning Academy, we aim to ignite a passion for the past and inspire our children to become inquisitive young historians. Our history curriculum is designed to develop curiosity, critical thinking and secure understanding of Britain and the wider world’s rich and fascinating heritage.
Our Approach
We believe history is more than dates and facts—it’s about understanding people, places and events that have shaped our world. Through carefully planned topics, children learn to ask perceptive questions, weigh evidence and develop perspective and judgement. This equips them with the cultural capital they need to thrive in our community and beyond.
Our Whole-School History Plan
Every child at Revoe is part of a shared journey through time. From the Stone Age to modern Britain, our topics connect across year groups, giving children a sense of continuity and progression which you can be seen below.

Alongside our year-group topics, every child at Revoe explores two significant historical events each year: Guy Fawkes: The Gunpowder Plot and Remembrance Day. These are revisited annually with increasing depth so children build a richer understanding as they progress through school.
In addition, Year 3 take a special role by hosting our annual Remembrance Day service, giving them a meaningful opportunity to develop their oracy skills while honouring this important occasion.
Celebrating Our Bespoke History Wall Art
We are proud to have commissioned stunning, bespoke wall art that showcases all the topics taught at Revoe. This vibrant timeline is more than decoration—it’s a learning tool.
Children use it to recall prior learning, make connections and spark curiosity about what’s next. It’s a visual anchor for their historical journey and a celebration of our commitment to high-quality history education.
Topic Resource Boxes
Each topic taught comes with its own resource box filled with artefacts, books and hands-on materials. These boxes bring history to life, encouraging children to ask questions, explore evidence and deepen their understanding. From replica Roman coins to World War II gas masks, these resources make learning tangible and exciting.
