Well done to our team who are taking part in Kids Cup 2016 with Blackpool FC Community Trust.
On Friday afternoon it was a nice sunny day so we decided to go on a trip to the park!
We got all comfy on the cushions and made same muffins.
The nursery children and staff enjoyed coming into nursery in their pyjamas at the end of half term. We had story time under the blankets, made sandwiches and had a teddy bears picnic with hot chocolate and marshmallows.
On Tuesday, we made pancake batter and enjoyed eating pancakes!
We made delicious pancakes on Pancake Day!
As part of Safer Internet Day and the #shareaheart campaign, 4JK had a fantastic time learning about how to play their part in making a better internet. They enjoyed watching SID TV and completed hearts to show what they enjoyed most about the internet. They even made a class human heart!
As part of our Chinese New year celebrations, we took part in a dragon dance
On Tuesday the 2nd of February, we went on a visit to Blackpool Zoo as part of our work on teeth and digestion. As well as looking at all the wonderful animals, we had a talk about animal teeth to determine whether they were herbivores, carnivores or omnivores. We got to look at different animal skulls and held hissing cockroaches!
Last week, RLH were busy finding out about Rainbows after someone in our class had made a book about them. We looked on the Internet and found lots of pictures of different types of rainbows. We experimented with our new kaleidoscope and shone torches through different sorts of paper. We even made a ’Rainbow Cake.’ Later on in the week we saw a real rainbow outside!
As part of Safer Internet Day, we watched the videos from SID TV and had a discussion about how to be safe on the internet and what we should do if we ever felt uncomfortable with anything we saw online. We talked about all the positive things about the internet and what good things we can do to keep ourselves safe online. We wrote and drew our ideas inside a hearts. Here are a couple of pictures of the children holding up their positive hearts!
As a discrete lesson, Year 1 took part in a Chinese New Year workshop. After learning different dance moves and using special umbrellas, we became a Chinese Dragon and Lion! The children loved it and have learnt so much about Chinese New Year.
