Last week Nursery learnt about Halloween. They walked to Lidl to choose and buy a pumpkin and enjoyed cutting it up and discovering what was inside. Some of them decided to draw and paint their own pumpkin pictures!
Our Friday was a sea of PINK!! with our Big Pink Friday celebration in aid of Breast Cancer Care. With an eye catching assortment of pink outfits on display and lots of tasty treats on sale, thank you to everyone that took part and donated to our exciting event.
In an outdoor enrichment activity a group of year 4 children visited the Beacon Fell nature reserve. They built dens, played hide and seek and explored the nature trails of the forest where they discovered strange statues. They look like they had great fun!
From bubbling cauldrons, our resident cackling wizards and witches served up a spooky Halloween treat this lunch time with eye ball pasta and slimy worm strawberry jelly. Our dining room was suitably dressed to keep any passing friendly ghosts from interrupting our dinner time.
Our Revoe does Junior Masterchef competition was an opportunity for year 3 to demonstrate their culinary skills, preparing healthy meals for our three expert judges. Two groups were awarded all-round best dish on presentation, healthiness and the all important taste test.
Poppy was invited to attend a Canine First Aid course with another therapy dog from Kingcraig school. Both dogs were willing and very well behaved patients, allowing staff from various local schools to learn and practice how to correctly administer first aid.
It is a special day for Poppy as it's her birthday. She visited Nursery where they sang 'happy birthday' remembering to give her two claps at the end as she is 2 years old. She looked after the birthday hat while the children made her birthday cards and a cake out of play dough. Poppy would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for her lovely cards, gifts and birthday wishes.
On Wednesday, RLA was open for parents to help the children make poppies in our Poppy Craft Afternoon. The poppies will be displayed outside school for Remembrance Day.
For Remembrance, Revoe has welcomed war veterans. Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed learning how how Mr Clement fought in Afganistan where he lost both of his legs after an IED attack. They asked lots of questions, got to see photographs and hold medals of heroic actions.
Year 5 had a visitor on Tuesday from Mrs Cropper’s Dad Jim! They got to learn all about him growing up in Mereside, Blackpool and going on to join the RAF at 16. The children discovered how he fought for his country in the Falklands and Gulf conflicts. Back in 1991 Revoe Primary School (class 6RD) wrote a letter to him during the Gulf war- luckily Mrs Cropper’s mum kept it safe and the children got to read and enjoy this piece of history. They got to see photographs that Jim took, hold his medals and wear his RAF hat! Year 5 were a credit to Revoe and a fun afternoon was had by all.
Year 4 + 5 beat a rhythmic path to a new skill with African dance and drumming tuition yesterday. After learning about the instruments, traditions, music and dance of Africa they celebrated their new found expertise in a whole school assembly.
In the Blackpool Primary Schools dodgeball competition, our RLA team won all 3 games against Holy Family, Gateway and St Theresas. We then also went on to beat Mereside in the final! Well done to the team who played brilliantly and were a credit to our school with their impeccable behaviour and manners.
