Jimmy Armfield Football Tournament

RLA sent a year 4 team to the inaugural ‘Jimmy Armfield’ football tournament. The event fittingly held at the new Armfield Academy was extremely well attended with fifteen local schools and one team from the Manchester United foundation turning out to honour the BFC legend. The tournament was played as two leagues of eight teams, who each played one another, with the two league winners competing in a final. The RLA team performed magnificently and showed an improvement as the tournament progressed. Their teamwork, positional play and understanding of the game was a joy to watch. Out of their seven games they managed to win 5, draw 1 and lose 1, a magnificent effort. Unfortunately this was just not enough to win the group and qualify for the final, finishing a close second. A massive well done to all players for their outstanding efforts and thank you to the parents who supported the team.
