Nursery 1 - Circle Time

We enjoy taking part in circle time every day at Nursery, with the children joining in with counting activities, singing songs and listening to stories. This helps them to develop their skills in listening and understanding as well as promoting a lifelong love of books and rhymes.

We have recently had a focus on action and counting rhymes and the children have had fun being "Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" and "Little Speckled Frogs".

We sang the song "5 Current Buns in a Bakers Shop" and decided to make  (and eat) real current buns, talking about the ingredients and taking turns to stir the mixture.

The children have also enjoyed listening to the story "Barry the Fish with Fingers", with many of them choosing to look at the book independently and retell the story. Because of this interest, the children had the opportunity to make their own Barry fish, getting messy by painting their hands for his fingers. We then made a display which has helped to develop the children's  vocabulary and speech as some of the children have  recalled their own experiences of seeing different fish at the Sealife Centre.
